360 Assessment
A 360 assessment or multi rater tool, is a collection of evaluations of a person's performance from their boss, their peers, their subordinates and themselves.
The results of the 360 act as a 'behavioural mirror' that can be extremely valuable to the participant, providing they accept the feedback and acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses.
For a 360 assessment tool to be effective the results need to be delivered by a trained coach and the participant needs to be offered a planned strategy for improving weaknesses.
At Self Leadership International we dovetail our 360 assessment tool with executive coaching and / or leadership training.
What makes this particularly effective is that we have developed benchmarks for leadership behaviours in each of the leadership competencies.
The 360 assessment tool identifies the strengths and weakness of key leadership competencies within your organisation and offers a structured intervention for improving them.
How Does The 360 Assessment Work?
The 360 Assessment identifies leadership competencies that are grouped according to a Matrix Model (see next paragraph). Each leadership competency is benchmarked, so that it can be observed and behavioural feedback given. This enables the results from the 360 Assessment to be immediately used to coach and or train individuals to improve their leadership performance.
The Matrix Model is based on developmental psychology and allows us to understand the ‘frames of mind’ that we constantly carry unconsciously with us. Human beings think, feel and behave from inside the frames of mind that create their reality. These frames of mind affect how we behave socially and in the workplace. Not all frames of mind are healthy or productive. The 360 Assessment is used to identify which frames of mind require attention.

The Process

The 360 assessment uses a web-based, easy to complete form that allows each participant to get anonymous feedback from his or her boss, peers and direct reports. Paper based assessments are available for those that do not have web access.
After results are collated the agreed training or coaching program can commence to address issues highlighted by the assessment.
The 360 assessment can be repeated after the intervention to benchmark improvements.
